Week 1 Recap: Sissy Blue Shirts

And away we go! It was an exhilarating return to SEC football over the weekend, especially for the 11 teams that celebrated their first victory over the weekend. There may normally not be any similarities between LSU and Vanderbilt, but we know one now! We congratulate Brittany for calling the LSU loss (Ben had LSU losing as well), and we discuss the twin titans of the SEC (Dawgs and Tide) amongst other things. Plus some discussion of "sissy blue shirts."

SEC West Preview

We have arrived to the glory land of college football! While Tennessee was rumblin and stumblin to a win over Bowling Green, and while Ben indulged himself with dreams of Ohio State losing its first game, Ben and Brittany sat down battling raspy voices and sore throats to talk about the trials and travails of the SEC West this season. Ben predicts an epic end to the season involving Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M, while Brittany sees a nuclear meltdown coming for Coach O and Tigers. That and more inside.

SEC East Preview

Ben and Brittany take some time to preview the SEC East, including Brittany's rosy outlook for South Carolina, optimism abound for Georgia, and wild divergence on Missouri. Check out our short previews for each team and our expectations with such thoughts as the coach most likely to leave at the end of the season and which team is most likely to have an existential crisis.

SEC Primer: Florida

SEC Primer: Texas A&M

It's time to dive into Texas A&M's debut into the SEC this past decade including reminiscing about Johnny Football and wondering what NIL would have done for him and listening to Ben swoon over Reville as the most beautiful mascot in college football. There might have been a spit take as well.

We have finally made it to Starkville after a brief hiatus and talk about some good coaching, recruiting and highest of high moments for Bulldog fans this past decades.

We're back! And we go for a record time talking bout the Dawgs. Brittany struggles to contain her emotions talking about all the soul-crushing losses that Georgia enjoyed over the last decade, while Ben makes an argument that Kirby Smart did too well too early, but it's all OK because he has an Osborne head. Can Georgia finally win the big one this year? I don't think we can tell you yes or no, but we will try.

Welp we have hit the end of Media Days, and there was much to talk about with Eli(ah) Drinkwitz (Missouri), Sam Pittman (Arkansas), and Bryan Harsin (Auburn) hitting the podium. We talk about our impressions of each of those coaches, and then we hit the Fashion Corner and Coach Casting one last time. Four podcasts in four days - we do get paid for these, right?

In a day that was defined more by two teams not in the SEC, we still found some time to talk about the four coaches that graced Hoover with their presence on Wednesday - Nick Saban (Alabama), Clark Lea (Vanderbilt), Mike Leach (Mississippi State), and Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M). SEC Media Days rolls on with Georgia's Kirby Smart, Tennessee's Josh Heupal, Kentucky's Mark Stoops, and Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss - oh my bad, Ole Miss's Lane Kiffin. We talk about our reflections from their comments and goodness knows what else. Brittany gives her casting ideas for these coaches as well which is sure to spark controversy and outrage.
